Lucky B Brooks July 1, 2004 to October 28, 2018.
Lucky B Brooks was found by soldiers of the 3/290 INF at the FOB Tombstone training site at FT HOOD, TX. Having been abandoned and finding his way to the unit field operations center, he was adopted by the soldiers. The soldiers fed and watered him but worried what would happen to him over the Fourth of July holiday. So he was adopted and brought home. He also got a free, for him, trip to the post vet. This is when he got his name, one of the soldiers said he was a lucky bastard to have found us. He weighed in at 3 pounds and was estimated to be a year old. He was very underweight, malnourished and dehydrated. Thanks to the big hearts of the American Soldiers he pulled through and found a new home.
In his new home, he recovered, put on weight and showed his great friendly personality. We later found out he was probably related to the Maine Coon breed of large domestic cats. After his recovery, he grew to be 18 pounds with no fat. He was also a people person. He always liked to be with people.
He had been with the family for 14 years and he will be missed.
